A short story, set in Regency London. Since the moment Lord Sebastian Byefield’s pretty new neighbor moved in, he hasn’t enjoyed a single night of restful sleep. But when he finally meets her one crisp autumn afternoon, she is nothing like he imagined she’d be.

Miss Amelia Merriweather, the free-thinking new resident of the townhouse next door, is rescuing her kitten from a tree when she meets Lord Byefield. She’s pleasantly surprised to find he is just as handsome as he is serious . . . and that he’s just as puzzled as she is by the source of the ghostly noises that keep her awake every night.

The only way they’ll ever solve the mystery is to join forces and search together for the cause of those sinister sounds. Of course, their search would go much smoother if Amelia’s kitten didn’t keep getting in the way. 10 thoughts on “My Current Books

  1. I loved Mary and TheCaptain in all it’s forms. Revisiting Jane and Charles, hearing from Elizabeth but most of all seeing Mary as I always imagined her to be and to have her find her love makes it even better! Now what about Caroline!?! Please say she took the leap and got her HEA too! I can’t wait to read this book again and there in no higher compliment I can think to give!

    • Thank you for letting me know how much you liked the book! Feedback like yours is so encouraging, and your words really touched my heart. Yes, I’m working on a sequel to Mary and the Captain, which continues both Mary’s and Caroline’s story lines from the first book. I’ll be posting announcements soon about my progress, so please “stay tuned.” And thanks again for taking time to send your very kind words about Mary and the Captain. I appreciate it very much!

  2. I finished reading “Mary and The Captain” yesterday on Kindle. I thoroughly enjoyed pursuing a novel which expanded on Mary’s character and introduced the delightful Captain Bingley. Jane, Charles, Daniel, his grandfather and Kitty were all wonderful as well.

What astonished me that by the end of the book Caroline was actually likeable/redeemable, which was a pleasant surprise. I hope she garners a HEA too!

I am excited to hear there is a sequel in the works and wonder…will there be a story involving Kitty at some point?

    • Carolina, thank you for letting me know how much you enjoyed Mary and the Captain. I’m so glad you liked it!

The sequel I’m working on now concentrates on completing Mary’s and Caroline’s stories, although Kitty will be on hand throughout the book.

I do, however, have a plan to put Kitty center stage in a different upcoming book; and she’ll play a major role in yet another story about the Bennet sisters sticking together in a time of trouble. So, Kitty is going to be a very busy character!

Thanks again for reaching out to me, Carolina. All the best to you!

      • Hello Nancy,

That is lovely to hear. I look forward to reading more of Caroline and Mary’s stories and delving into Kitty being centre stage in other novels. 🙂

All the very best to you!

  3. I read Mary and the Captain and I have to say it was lovely. I enjoyed every minute of it. I loved to read a book focusing on Mary. It was delightful!

    • Thank you, Scarlett! I’m so glad you enjoyed the book. It was fun to write about Mary Bennet and give her some time in the spotlight; and it’s always nice to know when readers feel the same way. Thank you for your kind words.
      All my best to you!

  4. Mary and the Captain was a truly beautiful book, I enjoyed every moment of it and was quite sad to come to the end, so very glad to hear that the story will continue.

    • Thank you, Cate! I’m so glad you enjoyed the book. I have been working on a sequel, and will be sharing details soon here on my blog, so please check back after the first of June. Thanks again for taking the time to share your reaction to Mary and the Captain! Nancy
